About The Position

SOCOTEC is seeking a Project or Senior Project Environmental Engineer/Geologist/Scientist to join their environmental division in Las Vegas, Nevada. This role involves conducting and managing due diligence - Phase 1 and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, groundwater testing and sampling, and field contractor oversight. Experience with asbestos/lead paint surveys is a plus. The successful candidate will independently manage projects and clients, collect and analyze data, assist with proposal development, communicate effectively with clients and regulators, provide technical guidance, and oversee field staff. Responsibilities include implementing technical requirements, directing and supervising field staff for sampling and testing, and evaluating data for written reports.

Requirements

  • Nevada Certified Environmental Manager (CEM) Certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in environmental consulting, compliance, assessment, or related environmental services
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permitting requirements
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance programs, site assessments, and regulatory reporting
  • Excellent verbal, technical writing, and client communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and client relationships

Nice To Haves

  • Professional environmental certifications or registrations applicable to Nevada and neighboring states
  • Experience conducting Property Condition Assessments (PCA), Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), and environmental due diligence projects
  • Industrial hygiene experience, including asbestos, lead-based paint, indoor air quality, or related assessments
  • Familiarity with regulatory programs in Nevada, California, Arizona, and Utah
  • Experience preparing technical reports, proposals, and regulatory documentation

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and manage due diligence - Phase 1 and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
  • Perform groundwater testing and sampling
  • Provide field contractor oversight
  • Conduct and manage asbestos/lead paint surveys
  • Independently manage projects and clients
  • Collect and analyze data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs to evaluate, plan, and permit projects
  • Assist with development of proposals
  • Attend on-and off-site client meetings, effectively communicating with clients and regulators
  • Provide technical guidance and/or oversee work performed by lower-level staff
  • Implement technical requirements to complete client projects by directing and supervising field staff to sample, test, and collect data
  • Evaluate laboratory and field data and assemble in written reports
