About The Position

The Ayres Midwestern Environmental team is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to support their growing practice within the Development Services Division. The team works across a broad range of environmental and redevelopment projects, collaborating closely with planners, landscape architects, and economic development specialists. They help communities and private clients address environmental challenges and move projects forward. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys technical work, project coordination, client interaction, and staying actively involved in field investigations. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Earth Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of environmental consulting, regulatory, or related experience (investigation, groundwater or soil sampling, or technical reporting).
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Phase I/II ESAs, hydrogeologic sampling, environmental compliance/permitting, NEPA/WEPA, or Wisconsin NR 700-series investigations.
  • Technical writing experience, organization, communication, and project coordination skills.
  • Willingness to travel in and out of state (including some overnight).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., navigate uneven terrain, and work outdoors up to 25% of the time.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Wisconsin and federal environmental regulations (NR 100–700 series, NEPA/WEPA, RCRA, CERCLA, SPCC, etc.).
  • Experience managing environmental project tasks.
  • Four years or more of environmental consulting or regulatory experience.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (with current annual refresher).
  • Asbestos inspector certification

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support environmental investigation, compliance, remediation, and Brownfield redevelopment projects.
  • Conduct and oversee field activities, including Phase I and II ESAs, site inspections, monitoring well installation oversight, and soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling.
  • Interpret environmental data and prepare technical reports and regulatory documentation.
  • Coordinate project tasks, schedules, budgets, and client communications.
  • Assist with Brownfield-related research and grant writing.
  • Travel locally and nationally for project and field assignments.
