About The Position

Jupiter Power is an energy infrastructure company focused on the development, construction, trading and operation of battery energy storage assets across U.S. power markets. Formed in 2017, the company is a national leader in energy storage deployment, utilizing its proprietary optimization applications daily to dispatch its fleet and support its offtake customers. Backed by BlackRock’s Diversified Infrastructure business, Jupiter Power has a strategic portfolio of nearly 2,300 MW / 5,000 MWh in operations or under construction and a pipeline of over 12,000 MW in new projects in development. We are seeking a Environmental Project Manager to join our Operations and Maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day support of Jupiter Power’s environmental program for the entire operating fleet, including offices. This role will be based out of our Austin, TX office and is subject to our Company’s return-to-office policy which currently requires a minimum of three days a week in the office.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, data analysis, and engineering principles related to environmental science.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Capability to lead environmental and sustainability initiatives and motivate employees to prioritize EHS.
  • A bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, environmental science or a related field.
  • 5 years previous industry experience in environmental and/or safety work required.
  • Willingness to travel, as needed, to support site risk assessments, audits and training.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements comprehensive environmental and sustainability programs in accordance with legal requirements, tailored to the organization’s needs and ensures they are effectively communicated and enforced.
  • Regularly evaluate the impact of human activities on the environment to identify potential risks and implement corrective measures.
  • Maintain and continuously improve comprehensive emergency preparedness and response plans, including conducting risk assessments, coordinating training and drills, and collaborating with internal stakeholders and external emergency services to ensure organizational readiness and effective incident response.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with local first responders and regulatory agencies, supporting permitting, documentation, emergency response planning, and training initiatives.
  • Organize and conduct pertinent training programs for employees to promote awareness and adherence to environmental protocols. Able to instruct lithium-ion emergency response training to local firefighters.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend improvements to prevent future occurrences.
  • Ensure that the organization complies with local, state, and federal regulations, including Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) planning, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Planning (SWPPP), hazard communication and chemical safety program management and reporting (according to EPCRA and OSHA requirements).
  • Maintain accurate records of environmental procedures, training sessions, compliance audits, correspondence and prepare reports for management.
  • Work with planners and entities concerned with environmental impact to address environmental issues and develop sustainable solutions.
  • Foster a workplace culture that prioritizes safety and encourages employees to report unsafe conditions or practices.
