This position is for an Environmental Program Manager 2 within the Remedial Projects Unit and is available for full-time remote work within Arizona.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in the field of environmental science, environmental management, environmental or chemical engineering, biology, hydrology, or other environmental discipline
  • 5-10 years of environmental experience in a regulatory agency, consulting, or private industry
  • 5 years of supervisory/leadership experience
  • Ability to be in the office as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manages unit operations, including staff supervision, training, and performance monitoring.
  • Ensures work products are technically sound, accurate, and compliant with all State and Federal regulations.
  • Reviews technical reports and legal documents.
  • Participates in decision-making and problem resolution.
  • Champions continuous improvement.
  • Develops policies.
  • Manages high-profile projects.
  • Manages unit budget for staff training, strategic hiring, equipment/software purchasing, and travel.
  • Ensures the unit is in compliance with program goals, state and federal rules and regulations, and grant requirements.
  • Functions as a technical and regulatory resource for staff, supervisors, stakeholders, customers, and the general public.
  • Acts as a decision maker on unit level decisions.
  • Maintains communication within and outside the agency by attending meetings and outreach functions.
  • Responds to internal and external information requests.
  • Supports the section in meeting performance measures by developing and participating in process improvement projects.
  • Develops revised processes that increase work efficiency, quality, and output.
  • Ensures performance and flow boards are used properly by staff and updates upper management by tracking and reporting agency performance measures.
  • Prepares annual reports.
  • Assists with the preparation of reports, budget projects, and expenditures.
