About The Position

Our highly respected and successful Environmental Assessment & Community Engagement team has an ever-growing portfolio of work, built on technical excellence and exceptional service to our clients, with a particular need for support on infrastructure, power, and renewables client portfolios, but also within our infrastructure, ports, and mining sectors. Our work includes delivering keystone projects throughout their lifecycle: from early assessment of constraints to strategic development of regulatory approvals processes, to compliance management through construction and operations. Our team works collaboratively within projects to gain social acceptance and manage our clients' commitments to the environment and sustainable development. As part of the wider Environment division, you’ll be at the heart of the business with the opportunity to work alongside a variety of environmental and engineering professionals across Canada and our global regions. This role is based out of our Vancouver office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Planning, Environmental Science, or related degree, with full or provisional membership in a professional body such Registered Professional Planner (RPP, MCIP) or Canadian Environmental Professional (EP).
  • 1 to 3 years of related experience in environmental planning supporting engineering projects, managing impact assessments, obtaining environmental permits in BC.
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills with experience in supporting facilitation, consultation, and engagement processes.
  • Working knowledge of environmental planning and sustainability related legislation, legal tools, processes, and principles.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage multiple assignments at one time.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification with the International Association for Public Participation, an/or Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or with ENVISION is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of impact assessments for municipal, provincial, and federal processes including socio-economic assessment.
  • Contribute to efforts to obtain and comply with environmental approvals/permits for projects from regulatory agencies (municipal, provincial, and federal).
  • Support the development and implementation of consultation and engagement processes.
  • Contribute environmental planning advice and project deliverables in the areas of ecological conservation, sustainability, and urban and rural development.
  • Assist the team where support is needed for field work, report writing, and research.
