About The Position
The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a Nursing Assistant to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager. This is a 50% position, working 20 hours per week, with evening and night shifts, and holiday rotation per unit guidelines. The role is located at Stead Family Children’s Hospital (SFCH).
Requirements
- Ability to read, write and follow instructions
Responsibilities
- Clean equipment, patient bedside area and nursing unit
- Set up rooms for patient admission
- Stock and supply patient rooms and Nursing unit
- Perform patient personal hygiene such as bathing, toileting, feeding, dressing, grooming and oral care for patients
- Assist patients with bedpans, urinals and perineal cleansing
- Turn, position and ambulate patients
- Enter daily patient record charting in computer
- Transport patients by bed, cart or wheelchair
- Transport equipment, specimens and supplies
- Perform basic CPR as required
- Maintain patient confidentiality
