About The Position

The Environmental Monitoring Specialist I performs onsite viable (microbial) and non-viable particle sampling in various environments including Cleanrooms, Biological Safety Cabinets, Laminar Flow Hoods, Controlled Rooms/Areas, Equipment, Personnel, Water Systems, Compressed Gases, and Steam Systems. This role ensures the organization's conformance to industry practices and regulations. The specialist will work under immediate supervision, relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines, and typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The position requires knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the microbiology field.

Requirements

  • Must be computer literate, proficient in Microsoft office, email, and can learn to work within custom database and software applications, to perform routine job duties
  • 0-3 years of related experience in the Life Sciences Services Industry or related field
  • If 0 years of industry experience, then a degree in biological or environmental science or related field and education
  • Strong Interpersonal and communication skills, ability to move between task types and remain efficient, show initiative, good planning and organizational skills, look for and pitch process improvements
  • Must be able to lift 50Lbs, work on equipment bending, kneeling, sitting, and/or standing
  • Reliable Transportation and a Valid Drivers License
  • Travel: Local/Regional (Mid-Atlantic)
  • Must be able to pass a drug and background check
  • Location: Mid-Atlantic

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine on-site sampling of laboratory equipment and manufacturing clean rooms for Customers regulated by the EMA, FDA, and ISO, ensure conformance to established operational specifications
  • Knowledgeable in microbial and chemical sampling techniques for testing: Clean Rooms, Biological Safety Cabinets (BSCs), Water Drops/Loops/Systems, Sampling Tents, Laminar Flow Hoods, Liquid Samples, Gowning, and Personnel
  • Assist in Cleaning Verification Services, Environmental Monitoring, Compressed Gas Testing, and Steam Quality Testing
  • Prepare detailed reports based on the results of field service activities for proper customer review of the service rendered
  • Identify deviations from established acceptance criteria and work with the customer to assist in follow up sampling, troubleshooting potential reasons for contamination, and support remediation efforts when requested
  • Support the validation group from time-to-time in the execution of Temperature Mapping Qualifications, Installation and Operational Qualification Protocols, and in some cases you may be required to provide technical assistance during the execution of Performance Qualification, Process Validation, or Cleaning Validation and Environmental Monitoring studies
