About The Position

The Environmental Manager is a field-based operational role responsible for direct environmental compliance execution at active construction and operating renewable energy sites. Embedded within Construction and O&M, the role is 100% dedicated to project and asset operations rather than corporate support. It provides hands-on oversight, inspections, incident response, compliance implementation, and environmental risk management for safe, compliant project delivery and operation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, Sustainability, Engineering, Natural Resources, or related field.
  • 5+ years of environmental or sustainability experience, including at least 3 years in direct construction or operational execution within renewable energy or infrastructure.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. environmental laws, permitting, and compliance processes.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing environmental and sustainability requirements at active construction projects and/or operating assets.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, including technical field reporting and site-level ESG documentation.
  • Regular presence at active construction and operational sites is essential; up to 25% travel may be required between assigned sites/assets, audits, and community meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site-level environmental compliance across construction and operations.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, monitoring, training, and incident response.
  • Review EPC deliverables and confirm field implementation.
  • Implement sustainability programs for emissions, waste, biodiversity, and resource efficiency.
  • Collect and report site-level ESG data.
  • Support sustainable procurement and translate Net Zero goals into site actions.
  • Support community impact efforts during construction and early operations.
  • Track workforce, outreach, and community investment metrics.
  • Partner with Communications and Government Affairs on engagement.
  • Maintain compliance documentation and audit records.
  • Identify and escalate environmental and ESG risks.
  • Provide site-level data for ESG, investor, and regulatory reporting.
  • Serve as the ESSI field partner for Construction and O&M teams.
  • Provide coaching, training, inspections, and field oversight.
