The Environmental Manager will provide leadership, mentoring and direction to hourly, salaried and management personnel engaged in Environmental, Health, and/or Safety (EHS) activities related to a medium to large facility.

Requirements

  • Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Policy Compliance: Extensive knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies; ability to implement EHS policies to ensure that provided products and services are safe for people and the environment and in compliance with legal requirements and standards.
  • Risk Management: Extensive knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Collaborating: Extensive knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Problem Solving: Extensive knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Sustainability: Basic knowledge of sustainability strategy; ability to integrate sustainability into the overall business strategy of the organization to build a sustainable business model.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous extensive experience in air compliance and air permit knowledge, drinking and water waste experience, hazardous waste regulations experience
  • Previous experience working in Foundry, oil and gas, or paper mill

Responsibilities

  • Identifies common and more complex safety/health/environmental hazards inherent in the organizations operations and establishes guidelines for protection from those hazards.
  • Ensures EHS training is completed to comply with regulatory requirements or in support of facility, division, or enterprise objectives.
  • Audits safety/health/environmental programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations, and adequacy relative to local conditions.
  • Monitors periodic performance reports for trends and conditions, alerts line management to problems and makes recommendations for improvement.
