About The Position

Environmental Management Supervisor's focus is on reducing Nisshinbo's impact on the local public and community health by finding innovative ways to improve air and water pollution, waste disposal, and recycling through management or biology, chemistry, and other sciences. They help to improve public health and communities by strengthening processes for things like climate change and clean water, improving environmental conditions through remediation and finding unique solutions to control current pollution and clean up of hazards that occur. They are usually responsible for obtaining, analyzing, updating and maintaining operating procedures and data for projects that affect the environment. The Environmental Management Supervisor works with municipalities and regulatory agencies as a liason between the agencies and Nisshinbo for periodical reports, submittals, and projects.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Supervise environmental team staff members.
  • Use of specialized equipment to test water and air or environmental control equipment performance.
  • Monitoring and improvements to waste management system design, processes, and record keeping.
  • Manage universal and hazardous waste accumulation, pick-ups, tracking, and maintain small quantity generator status for haz waste.
  • Reducing waste cost and impact by increasing recycle percentages with a targeted goal of zero emissions and zero landfill.
  • Report, track, and put in place measurable Kaizen improvements so Nisshinbo effectively models social accountability to protect the environment and providing timely Corporate Social Responsibility reporting to customers, stackholders, and corporate members.
  • Reclamation and disposal of high strength wastewater, hazardous waste, and landfill waste meeting all RCRA requirements or other requirements.
  • Adherance to Georgia Industrial Stormwater Permit through recordkeeping, submittals in GEOS, field observations or sample collections, site cleanup & audits.
  • Evaluate current systems and design innovative ways to improve or replace the existing systems or processes driving Kaizen.
  • Investigate, record, and compile reports for environmental-related complaints, violations, and corrective actions.
  • Support and drive ISO14001 goals, objectives, audits, and record keeping actively with QA.
  • Compile, file, and submit reports related to EPA or EPD requirements such as HAPs tracking, permit applications, TSCA submittals, TRI, EPCRA SARA reporting. Inform Nisshinbo team of SNUR that apply to chemicals of use in the factory operations.
  • Observe wastewater operations and correspond with City of Covington regarding wastewater processes.
  • Material or chemical SDS review with complaince to regulations.
  • Participate on HAZWOPER team.
  • Train, educate, and enforce the company's compliance with other departments and employees.
  • Develop policies and instructions implementing environmental best practices among other duties.
