About The Position

The Environmental Land Planner will provide environmental planning expertise to assist in obtaining local, state and/or federal permits for projects related to energy, telecommunications, water, or mining industries. Eocene Environmental Group has spent the past two decades providing environmental, utility vegetation management (UVM), software and sustainability services. They are part of the Wright Service Corp. family, which has helped them establish a strong foundation for continued growth and success. Through a strategic alignment of values and goals, four Wright Service Corp. entities joined and integrated into one, operating as Eocene Environmental Group. These four entities are: Forestry & Utility Division, Environmental Division, Technology & Innovation Division, and Sustainability Division.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in environmental planning and/or a closely related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of NEPA and/or CEQA
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working with or for federal, state, or local agencies
  • Ability to perform work duties independently and efficiently with short deadlines
  • Highly organized, motivated, thorough, accurate, dependable, and trustworthy
  • Ability to interact and coordinate with state, federal, local, and tribal agencies
  • Note-taking ability
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. degree in environmental planning and/or a closely related discipline
  • 8+ years’ experience working with or for federal, state, or local agencies preferred
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Familiarity with typical utility operations and maintenance activities
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and ESRI GIS applications (including desktop, ArcGIS, Collector, Survey123, etc.)
  • Excellent navigation skills and good driving record
  • Experience driving a four-wheel drive vehicle off-road or in rough terrain

Responsibilities

  • Complete tasks associated with NEPA, CEQA or other local, state and federal permitting
  • Research requirements for a variety of local, state and federal permits
  • Collaborate with staff, agencies, clients and other project collaborators to facilitate permit submittals and schedules
  • Synthesize and communicate permit stipulations and requirements
  • Track and organize permit processes and status
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings
  • Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s and Eocene Environmental Group’s culture of safety and employee ownership
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures

Benefits

  • Compensation: $24 - $60 per hour, based on relevant experience
