A Day in the Life As a Laboratory Technician in our Richmond, VA lab , you’ll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals. The compensation range for this role is $18.00 to $20.00 per hour , commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities: Preparation of samples for analysis Preparation of reagents for lab use and/or shipment Sample extractions and acid digestions Determining the volume of samples Cleaning of laboratory glassware Maintaining clean laboratory areas Maintaining organized records of sample preparation and analysis Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency of, or accuracy of analyses Assisting the Group Leaders and analysts in acquiring and inventorying consumables, chemicals, and parts for instrumentation Comply with Onterris Quality Assurance Program and other policies Comply with Onterris Health and Safety Plan Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • 1-2 years of experience working in a lab
  • Understanding of physical and chemical principles underlying why procedures are specified the way they were for each method with which they work.

Nice To Haves

  • associate's or Bachelor's degree in a scientific field preferred
  • Computer skills: knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant computer programs
  • Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement; ability to use concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to write correspondence and reports
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work such as moving and lifting equipment, standing for long periods of time, etc.
