As an Environmental Lab Technician II in our Durham, NC lab, you’ll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals. The compensation range for this role is $19.00 to $22.50, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. Monday - Friday Schedule with occasional overtime/weekend work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field preferred
  • 1+ years laboratory experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory equipment such as balances, mechanical pipettes, and microscopes.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite of software.
  • The desire to learn new techniques and not afraid to ask questions.
  • An effective communicator.
  • Effective documentation, timeliness, and throughput must meet the standard of the laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of sample for metals analysis using acid digestion techniques.
  • Help with keeping a clean and orderly laboratory.
  • Performing refractive index analysis using a microscope.
  • Keeping track of consumable inventory.
  • Help with the archiving of analyzed samples.
  • Preparation and analysis of mercury samples (cold vapor atomic absorption experience a plus)
  • Preparation of filters and reagents for in-house lab use and/or shipment.
  • Comply with Onterris Quality Assurance Program, Health & Safety Program and other policies
  • Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director
