About The Position

The Environmental Inspector is responsible for overseeing environmental compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations throughout the lifecycle of the project, particularly over the LALNG Terminal.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of environmental permitting and best management practices.
  • Familiarity with regulatory agencies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Advanced technical skills, including proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy.
  • 4+ years of experience in environmental inspection, monitoring, or permitting, particularly for linear or energy infrastructure projects.
  • Physically fit to walk up to 10 hours per day on uneven, steep, or challenging terrain.
  • Capable of carrying up to 10 pounds of equipment.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Health & Safety, or a related field (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily field inspections and surveys to assess compliance with environmental regulations, focusing on erosion control, wildlife interactions, debris management, dust control, and roadway maintenance.
  • Oversee and verify implementation of mitigation measures.
  • Monitor and document environmental compliance, preparing detailed daily inspection reports with written and photographic evidence.
  • Review project documents, providing critical assessments and guidance on environmental compliance.
  • Provide input and guidance for spill response and cleanup activities.
  • Evaluate restoration activities and ensure proper implementation of mitigation and best management practices.
  • Serve as a resource for ensuring compliance with environmental permits.
  • Collaborate with contractors, site management, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to address compliance issues and maintain adherence to permit conditions.
  • Support and deliver environmental training for construction personnel, as needed.
  • Participate in project and construction meetings to provide updates and recommendations.
  • Support variance requests for environmental permits through thorough documentation and analysis.
  • Stay informed on relevant environmental regulations and compliance standards.
