About The Position

The Town of Prosper is currently seeking a qualified and dedicated individual for the position of Environmental Health Specialist. This role involves conducting health and safety inspections, enforcing health and food safety codes, and reviewing plans and specifications for commercial swimming pools and spas. The specialist will also inspect semi-public and public pools, as well as non-fixed food establishments. The position operates under the general supervision of the Health and Code Compliance Manager or their designee.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
• Two (2) years of food establishment and pool inspection related experience.
• Must possess a valid state of Texas Registered Sanitarian license at the time of application.
• Knowledge of computers and related equipment, hardware and software for maintaining and tracking of safety and health inspections and noncompliance issues.
• Knowledge of public health and sanitation codes and practices in the State of Texas.
• Knowledge of Federal, State and City health and safety laws, codes, and ordinances.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Skills in effective oral and written communication.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background, and MVR check.
• Must possess valid State of Texas Driver’s License.
• May be required to seek additional certifications.

Nice To Haves

• Must obtain a Pool Operator Certification within one year of date of employment.
