Environmental Health Scientist II
About The Position
The Utah County Health Department seeks to prevent avoidable disease and injury and promote health by monitoring the health of the community and assuring conditions in which people can be healthy. This position, under general supervision of a Bureau Director – Environmental Health, independently conducts sanitation inspections of eating establishments, commercial facilities, and public buildings. It inspects onsite sewage disposal and water systems to determine compliance with ordinances and laws designed to protect the health and safety of the public. The role responds to and investigates complaints related to public health and conducts public education training related to environmental health. The position may be assigned to work in multiple functional areas or exclusively to one, as determined by the Division Director – Environmental Health.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university that includes thirty (30) credit hours in the natural sciences or a closely related field.
- Three (3) years of experience as a licensed Environmental Health Scientist.
- Applicants must be licensed through the State of Utah as an Environmental Health Scientist.
- Applicants must obtain and maintain certifications in an environmental health field and/or certifications applicable to position.
