We are looking for an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist that will assist the Safety Manager with the responsibility of promoting a safety culture and policies, procedures, and safety work practices. This position will provide support for the day-to-day operations. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state health & safety laws. The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist is accountable to coordinate and monitor programs to meet or exceed all company and regulatory requirements for employee health and safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of EHS experience in manufacturing, distribution, warehousing, construction, or industrial environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • CSP, ASP, OHST, CHST, or similar professional certification.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance programs, including hazardous waste, stormwater, air permitting, or wastewater requirements.
  • Experience with behavior-based safety, ergonomics, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, and contractor safety management.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine facility inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
  • Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of EHS training programs.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries; perform root cause analysis and track corrective actions.
  • Maintain EHS records, reports, permits, and regulatory documentation.
  • Support emergency preparedness programs, drills, and response activities.
  • Participate in risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and machine safety reviews.
  • Monitor contractor safety and compliance activities.
  • Assist with workers’ compensation, return-to-work, and injury management processes.
  • Track safety metrics and prepare reports for leadership review.
  • Promote employee engagement through safety committees, observations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
