About The Position

The EHS Manager, like all other team members, is personally involved in creating a workplace free from all injuries, and their dedication to doing so will be absolute and clear through their actions that safety is a condition. The role is a combination of understanding legal safety requirements (OSHA) and setting standards for the plant’s workforce and office personnel across the company. The EHS Manager's knowledge is used to help guide all team members in the ways of safe behaviors, and to train workers/staff to understand safety procedures and requirements, as well as taking the lead in the Care Management process. This position will report to the Director, Engineering & EHS.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent in a related field and/or 3-5 years' experience effectively running safety programs in a manufacturing environment
  • Takes direction well and works efficiently but safely
  • Ability to work and thrive under time constraints and prioritize responsibilities
  • High attention to detail and ability to work safely in fast paced environment
  • Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexibility

Nice To Haves

  • Food industry experience preferred
  • EHS and OSHA 30 certifications preferred but can be obtained on-the-job.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties safely, models and follows all safety guidelines, and proactively participates in EHS team meetings/plans
  • Mitigate risk for the Richmond Plant (1700 Building), the office personnel located at the 2000 Building as well as responsibility for coordinating policies between our manufacturing facilities.
  • Ensure OSHA logs and all other required documents and postings are in compliance.
  • Investigate injuries and near misses, perform root cause analysis, document findings, and make recommendations to management.
  • Facilitate weekly Near Miss meetings and coordinate/report activity.
  • Take lead in ensuring all injury reporting is timely and accurate.
  • Take lead in Care Management process.
  • Ensure that the Illness and Injury Prevention Program (IIPP) is current.
  • Facilitate safety and other company related trainings in Alchemy (with HR assistance)
  • Facilitate and maintain forklift training program; maintain logs and documentation.
  • Create and facilitate Incident Review calls w/ other plant leadership in the case of a recordable injury or near miss.
  • Develop and coordinate Safety Data Sheet (SDS) program to ensure compliance.
  • Manage personal protective equipment (PPE) including slip-resistant shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, knives/cutting tools, cut resistant gloves etc.
  • Assist with OSHA audits as necessary
  • Coordinate safety evaluations on new and existing equipment and processes and maintain documentation on standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in new product/process reviews, including job hazard analyses, operator training, etc.
  • Review process-operating procedures/records and provide input for safety and health considerations.
  • Provides guidance/training to new employees and “models the way” with the Integral Safety Model
  • Supports plant management in other actions and programs necessary for maintaining the desired company culture.
