About The Position

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, managing, and continuously improving environmental, health, and safety programs within a heavy equipment manufacturing environment specializing in the engineering and production of grapple trucks, grapple loaders, and knuckle boom loaders. This position ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence throughout the organization. The EHS Manager will collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, maintenance, quality, and leadership teams to proactively identify risks, implement corrective actions, and support safe and environmentally responsible manufacturing practices.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of related Environmental, Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and related Environmental, Health & Safety regulations.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes including fabrication, welding, machining, sandblasting, and industrial painting operations.
  • Ability to lead, influence, and train employees across multiple departments and organizational levels.
  • Flexibility to work alternative shifts or hours as needed to support training, audits, investigations, or operational needs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial safety and environmental compliance practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to conduct audits, investigations, inspections, and risk assessments independently.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
  • Effective leadership and team collaboration skills.

  • Experience in heavy equipment, truck body, vocational vehicle, or industrial manufacturing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and coordinate compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other industry regulations and standards.
  • Ensure effective development and delivery of all EHS-related training and education programs.
  • Maintain accurate and current EHS training records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with operational teams in execution, monitoring, and continuous improvement of EHS programs and initiatives.
  • Apply technical EHS knowledge to improve site environmental, health, and safety performance.
  • Assist with identification, prioritization, evaluation, and communication of EHS risks by inspecting facilities, equipment, processes, and work practices.
  • Develop and implement controls to eliminate or reduce workplace and environmental hazards.
  • Actively engage with operational changes and projects to assess EHS impacts and communicate compliance requirements to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Maintain and coordinate EHS performance metrics and assist in preparation of internal and external reports.
  • Coordinate responses to internal and external EHS inquiries, inspections, audits, and concerns.
  • Ensure manufacturing operations remain compliant with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Interpret environmental standards and advise management on required actions and compliance strategies.
  • Generate environmental reports and maintain environmental permits in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as liaison with government agencies, insurance carrier inspectors, and external auditors during inspections and inquiries.
  • Coordinate corrective actions to minimize citations, violations, and fines related to noncompliance.
  • Track performance of air emission control equipment and oversee monitoring and preventive maintenance activities for dust and fume collection systems.
  • Recommend repairs, upgrades, or improvements to environmental control systems as needed.
  • Develop and implement environmental inspection procedures, schedules, and audit programs.
  • Gather environmental data, perform calculations, and prepare monthly, biannual, and annual environmental reports.
  • Lead and support projects aimed at reducing environmental impacts and improving sustainability initiatives.
  • Stay current on emerging environmental legislation, regulations, and industry trends.
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective action development, and closure tracking.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 logs, first aid records, and related safety documentation.
  • Facilitate safety through training, mentoring, coaching, and supporting safety teams and safe work practices.
  • Assist with evaluating workplace risks and employee safety concerns and implementing corrective measures.
  • Develop Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), safe operating procedures, and related safety documentation.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate industrial hygiene testing and monitoring activities in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Maintain exposure databases and prepare sampling reports and action plans.
  • Conduct respirator, noise, indoor air quality, ergonomics, chemical exposure, and other occupational health assessments.
  • Lead Safety Committee meetings, facility tours, and follow-up activities related to corrective action items.
  • Participate in the administration and continuous improvement of behavior-based safety programs to maximize employee participation and results.
