Environmental, Health & Safety Intern
About The Position
This is an on-site internship with an anticipated start date in May. Ideally, you’ll be available for a 4- to 8-month term. At Interfor, you won’t spend your internship watching from the sidelines. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute, grow, and build experience you can carry into your future career. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, build practical skills, and gain a better understanding of how environmental, health, and safety practices support our people and operations. Requirements
- You are enrolled in a post-secondary program related to Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or Public Health.
- You are committed to maintaining a safe work environment without compromise.
- You are comfortable analyzing information and using Microsoft Excel.
- You communicate clearly and can organize findings into practical documentation or recommendations.
- You are curious, detail-oriented, and comfortable asking questions to better understand risks, requirements, and processes.
- You are willing to work in both office and industrial environments, including spending time on the mill floor.
Nice To Haves
- experience with SQL or Tableau is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives across a manufacturing operation.
- Assist with inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and compliance activities.
- Review and analyze safety or environmental data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Help develop or update procedures, training materials, and EHS documentation.
- Contribute to project work by reviewing requirements, identifying gaps, and recommending practical solutions.
- Collaborate with employees and leaders across the site while gaining experience in both office and industrial environments.
