About The Position

Eaton’s AER FED Fluid Electrical Distribution Aerospace division is currently seeking a Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Facilities Manager. This role requires working on-site daily M-F at our Torrance, CA manufacturing facility. Eaton’s Critical Power Solutions Division is seeking an EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) Manager to join our team. This position is based in Torrance, CA and you will support the Torrance location. As the EHS & Facilities Manager you will provide EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) and leadership to the Torrance Site. This role will ensure plant level EHS programs, policies, procedures, and systems are developed, implemented and sustained to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulatory requirements and conformance with Eaton MESH requirements. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of (3) three years’ experience working in an Environmental, Health & Safety discipline within a manufacturing or operations environment.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

  • Understanding of industry, state, and country EHS requirements
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; strong leadership/managerial courage, coaching and influence management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and formal problem-solving methods used to identify root cause and drive corrective actions
  • Demonstrated experience in deployment of safety programs
  • Strong communication and organizational skill

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in occupational safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Discipline, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • One (1) year of experience leading and influencing teams in an Environmental, Health & Safety discipline within a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of (5) five years’ experience working in an Environmental, Health & Safety discipline within a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in auditing EHS compliance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager certification.
  • One (1) year of experience leading a facilities/Maintenance team in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, maintenance, and achievement of plant EHS goals/objectives (including risk management) in support of corporate and business group EHS strategic initiatives
  • Determine and monitor leading and lagging indicators to track performance against targets and objective
  • Lead risk assessment at the location to identify critical EHS hazards and aspects and collaborate with leadership team to create and implement mitigation action plans
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, policies, and procedures in conformance with regulatory and/or company requirements (e.g. MESH)
  • Work to assign MESH element champions and facilitate their engagement in ownership of the MESH elements, including annual evaluation of compliance for EHS country, state, and local regulations.
  • Investigate environmental and safety incidents to determine root causes and prepares and implements corrective action plans
  • Develop behavior-based safety programs and works collaboratively with all employees to you will create and promote a zero incident EHS culture throughout sites. Facilitate engagement through various events and initiatives
  • Act as site point of contact for Federal, State, and Local inspections pertaining to EHS, and ensures compliance with air, water, wastewater and storm water permits and other safety and environmental concerns
  • Develop/maintain plant emergency response plans and ensures drills are performed to document plan effectiveness
  • Create and monitor EHS training matrices to ensure that required training for targeted audience is defined and tracked to completion
  • Manage annual EHS budgets/cost savings and capital upgrades/projects. Lead management of change for capital upgrades and nonstandard work when appropriate.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with local medical authorities on matters of mutual concern including OSHA reporting and Eaton internal requirements.
  • Develop and manage ergonomic initiatives to ensure ongoing ergonomic assessments, evaluations, and continuous improvement processes to reduce work/job-related trauma while keeping within production requirements.
  • Overseeing the daily operations and long-term planning of site's physical infrastructure, ensuring that the building, equipment, and grounds are safe, functional, and efficient.
  • Manage the oversight of preventive and corrective maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and equipment.
  • Manage the facility workorder system
  • Promote energy efficiency and waste reduction strategies to help reach our GHG goals.
