About The Position

The Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) Representative is responsible for promoting a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible work environment throughout all phases of project execution. This position partners with project leadership, contractors, and corporate EHSS personnel to ensure company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices are consistently implemented. The EHSS Representative provides field leadership through inspections, coaching, incident management, and continuous improvement initiatives that support a strong safety culture.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of EHSS experience supporting construction, industrial, utility, or renewable energy projects.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and construction safety practices.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, incident investigations, and root cause analyses.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of an organization.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic EHSS management systems.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required or the ability to obtain shortly after hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Professional certifications such as CHST, ASP, CSP, or CSHO are preferred.
  • Utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage (BESS), substation, or transmission construction projects.
  • Owner's representative or construction management experience.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors and multi-contractor project environments.
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting, contractor safety management, and continuous improvement programs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project leadership to implement and maintain environmental, health, safety, and security programs across assigned projects.
  • Monitor contractor activities to verify compliance with company standards, project requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Serve as the project's primary EHSS resource by providing technical guidance and practical solutions to field personnel and management.
  • Schedule and perform routine site inspections, safety observations, audits, and compliance reviews to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and work with project teams to develop and track corrective actions through completion.
  • Promote proactive hazard recognition by communicating safety concerns, lessons learned, and near-miss events to project personnel.
  • Lead or assist with incident investigations by gathering facts, determining contributing factors, identifying root causes, and recommending corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate EHSS documentation, including inspection reports, incident records, performance metrics, and regulatory reports, ensuring timely submission to company leadership and other required entities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable safety regulations, environmental requirements, and company procedures, ensuring project teams have access to the latest guidance and documentation.
  • Coordinate and communicate with project management, contractors, corporate EHSS personnel, and regulatory representatives on matters related to health, safety, environmental compliance, and security.
  • Ensure workplace incidents, hazards, and safety observations are reported promptly in accordance with established company procedures.
  • Regularly evaluate project EHSS performance, identify trends, and provide recommendations that strengthen safety performance and regulatory compliance.
