About The Position

Leidos’ NISC IV Program is seeking an Environmental & Safety Professional to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with the Environmental Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) Program. This role involves supporting various multi-faceted EOSH programs, including Asbestos, Lead, Mold, Chemical Management, Emergency Response, Electrical Safety, Water, Fuel Storage Tanks, and Fall Protection. The candidate will provide direct support to multi-level customers and is expected to maintain applicable training and certification requirements. The position is primarily remote with up to 50% travel, requiring reporting to customer sites as needed, and the candidate must be located in the Atlanta area. The role demands experience in writing reports with strict deadlines, sampling and interpreting analytical reports, identifying exceedances, climbing towers or providing fall protection training, completing tower safety inspections, and delivering comprehensive technical EOSH training. Excellent customer service skills are essential for interacting with senior management and fostering cooperation. The applicant must be a self-starter, capable of working independently with minimal supervision. This is a full-time position requiring up to 75% travel, including overnight stays, and will be based at the customer site in Memphis as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree and 2+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters degree and relevant experience.
  • Environmental, health and safety experience.
  • Proven experience with various types of EOSH field equipment (ex. PID, XRF, Dosimeter, etc.).
  • Proficient in obtaining and developing Asbestos samples & reports.
  • Experience in conducting and developing indoor air quality (IAQ) samples & reports.
  • Technical competence in surveying and developing Fall Protection issues & reports as well as Electrical Safety issues and reports.
  • Proficient in obtaining and developing Drinking Water samples and reports.
  • Must be strong in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Microsoft Project.
  • Must be able to work, manage and maintain information stored in a Knowledge Sharing Network (KSN)/SharePoint site(s).
  • Must have a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance.
  • Must be located in the Atlanta area.

  • Undergraduate Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety & Health, or similar degree.
  • Master Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering.
  • Certified Safety Professional.
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Provide environmental and safety support to the FAA’s EOSH Programs, including Indoor Air Quality (IAQ); Asbestos Management; Lead Management (paint); Polychlorinated Biphenyls Management; Chemical/Hazardous Waste Management; Pesticide Management; Drinking Water Management; Fuel Storage Tank Management; Fall Protection Program; Hearing Safety Program; Electrical Safety Program; Confined Space Program; and Radiation Program.
  • Employ and be familiar with a wide variety of sampling instrumentation and sampling techniques.
  • Conduct site inspections and surveys, and submit proper technical reports conveying findings and sound guidance to resolve/mitigate any EOSH issues.
  • Manage inspections using electronic data, utilize on-line data storage locations, and be proficient with all Microsoft programs.
  • Research and interpret Federal, State, Local, and FAA rules and regulations applicable to EOSH Programs.
  • Provide excellent problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Write reports with strict reporting deadlines.
  • Perform extensive sampling and interpret analytical reports, identifying exceedances.
  • Climb towers and/or be capable of receiving and giving fall protection training.
  • Complete tower safety inspections.
  • Provide comprehensive technical EOSH training to employees as requested.
  • Interact with senior level management and internal and external customers.
  • Foster an environment of cooperation between different departments and co-workers.
  • Work independently and with minimum supervision.
