Aperture is adding an Environmental Health & Safety Professional to our team. We are looking for a well-rounded candidate to help other disciplines as needed, have strong business development skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • CIH Certification/Industrial Hygiene required
  • Safety, Health, and Environment (SH&E) professional certification required
  • Possess a complimentary professional engineering license
  • Ability and desire to testify at legal proceedings
  • Ability to travel for investigations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain client relationships
  • Physically able to spend long days in the field investigating buildings including roof tops of tall buildings, and exterior investigation of buildings from lifts and ladders
  • Ability to produce Project Environmental Management Plan (EMP)
  • Familiar with monitoring equipment to collect, process, and interpret data (e.g. water, dust, noise, waste, mold)
  • Awareness of current and future environmental regulations and has a working knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation.
  • Detailed knowledge of construction methods, trades, plant, equipment and practices.
  • Detailed knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and undertake the forensic investigation of construction and industry accidents, indoor environmental hazards, exposure assessments, and claims involving occupational safety for use in civil litigation, workers' compensation, and regulatory matters.
  • Review historical industrial hygiene data, safety records, MSDS/SDS files, personnel records, and company documents to evaluate exposure histories.
  • Ability to understand, create, and critique sampling and abatement plans.
  • Experience in moisture mapping analysis and the development of moisture mitigation plans.
  • Detailed understanding of occupational safety, and OSHA requirements.
  • Prepare written expert reports that articulate methodology, findings, and opinions in a clear, legally defensible manner consistent with Daubert/Frye standards.
  • Ability to provide deposition and trial testimony as a designated expert witness.
  • Perform site inspections, field sampling, and evidence collection in support of active litigation or insurance claims.
  • Assist in determining liability.
  • Evaluate causation between alleged exposures and claimed occupational diseases, including asbestos, silica, solvents, heavy metals, mold, and noise-induced hearing loss.
  • Experience in recognizing, evaluating, measuring, and controlling the public and employees' exposures to health hazards in and out of the workplace.
  • Ability to conduct premises liability evaluations and familiarity with Building Codes.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, engineers, toxicologists, and medical experts to build comprehensive case strategies.
  • Review and critique opposing expert reports; identify methodological weaknesses and prepare rebuttal analyses.
  • Able to lead and be a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Perform project work, be self-guided and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • May need to testify as an expert witness in court.
