About The Position

The Manager, Environmental, Health, and Safety is responsible for leading the enterprise Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program across a global manufacturing organization with more than 20 locations with manufacturing, processing, assembly and distribution activities. This role provides strategic direction, governance, and oversight to a team of EHS supervisors and professionals while partnering with site leadership to ensure regulatory compliance, risk reduction, injury prevention, and the development of a strong safety culture. The Manager, EHS also establishes corporate standards, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures alignment with company objectives related to employee safety and environmental stewardship.

Requirements

  • BS in engineering, business or related field
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in professional manufacturing position.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to handle complex problems and multiple projects.
  • Ability to analyze risk and make sound business decisions.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and prioritization processes.
  • Must have demonstrated problem solving abilities.
  • Requires strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • A strong understanding and working knowledge of manufacturing operations is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the corporate EHS strategy, roadmap, and annual objectives aligned with organizational goals.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of EHS supervisors and professionals responsible for site-level EHS execution.
  • Partner with Corporate Communications to develop and drive a corporate safety communications strategy that is built on data trends and advancement of the safety culture.
  • Establish enterprise-wide EHS standards, policies, procedures, and management systems.
  • Drive a culture of safety ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across all locations.
  • Partner with legal, serve as a corporate subject matter expert on occupational safety and environmental compliance matters.
  • Lead enterprise efforts to identify, assess, and reduce workplace hazards and operational risks.
  • Oversee risk assessment programs, machine safety initiatives, ergonomic improvements, and injury prevention strategies.
  • Ensure effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented following incidents, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Analyze injury, illness, and near-miss trends to identify systemic improvement opportunities.
  • Champion initiatives that advance the organization toward world-class safety performance with the ultimate goal of zero injuries.
  • Partner with sustainability leaders to support environmental stewardship initiatives and corporate sustainability goals.
  • Collect and report key environmental, energy and sustainability data for the enterprise.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee environmental programs including waste management, air emissions, wastewater, stormwater, and chemical management.
  • Monitor emerging regulations and assess business impacts.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable international EHS regulations and standards.
  • Maintain corporate EHS policies, procedures, and management systems.
  • Lead internal compliance reviews, audits, and management system assessments.
  • Coordinate responses to regulatory inspections, audits, notices, and corrective actions.
  • Track and communicate EHS performance metrics to executive leadership.
  • Partner with manufacturing, engineering, quality, maintenance, and human resources leaders to integrate EHS principles into daily operations.
  • Support facility expansions, capital projects, process changes, and new equipment installations through EHS reviews and risk assessments.
  • Drive standardization and sharing of best practices across sites.
  • Lead enterprise EHS improvement projects focused on risk reduction, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Establish enterprise EHS training requirements and competency development programs.
  • Promote employee engagement through safety observations, leadership involvement, and communication initiatives.
  • Foster a culture where safety is a core value and integral part of operational decision-making.
