About The Position

Langan is seeking an experienced Environmental Field Technician to join its collaborative team in New York City or Melville, Long Island. This individual will serve a key function in assisting in environmental field work by collecting field data, documenting material handling and disposal, and supporting a dynamic large-scale construction project in Lower Manhattan. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team of top-notch professionals and to collaborate and learn from our multi-disciplinary team of site/civil, geotechnical, and environmental professionals on a high-profile project in Lower Manhattan.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• HAZWOPER Certification, maintenance of annual physical and respirator fit test, annual HAZWOPER 8 hr. re­certification, as required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• 2+ years' prior related experience required
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task effectively
• Excellent analytical and judgment capabilities
• Ability to work well individually and within groups
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Valid driver's license in good standing
• Availability to work during day (7:00 am to 3:00 pm) or evening (3:00 pm to 11:00 pm) work shifts
• Primary job site will be in Lower Manhattan; applicants should be able to travel to various job sites and spend most, if not all of the work day on-site, as-required

Nice To Haves

• Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field preferred

Responsibilities

• Review, interpret and understand community air monitoring data and coordinate response actions with site contractors
• Track and log disposal of excavated materials of varying contaminant profiles and import of environmentally clean backfill
• Assist with conducting various types of environmental monitoring (water, air, asbestos, lead) using basic field instruments
• Collaborate with other on-site Langan personnel (e.g., geotechnical inspectors)
• Operate and maintain various remedial systems, such as drills, pumps, electrical equipment
• Assemble and maintain field equipment and systems; inspect equipment and troubleshoot as necessary
• Produce timely and detailed service reports
• Perform other duties as requested
