About The Position

Join GHD's US West Mining Team in Phoenix, AZ, as an Environmental Field Technician. This role, working with the CAR group, offers diverse projects across the Pacific Northwest. You will be an integral part of the team, delivering meaningful information to clients, engaging with team members and contractors, and largely responsible for your own work. Duties will evolve with experience, ensuring no two days are the same. In this role, you will coordinate and perform field investigation activities to characterize and/or remediate cleanup facilities to achieve regulatory closure. You will compile and interpret data against environmental regulatory standards and prepare technical correspondence, including reports and proposals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Minimum 1-3 years of environmental and/or soil sampling experience preferred
  • Sufficient physical flexibility, stamina, and balance to perform bending, reaching, kneeling, climbing, walking over rough terrain and lifting or moving up to 40 pounds. Ability to lift at least 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work in outdoor desert environments and elements, including changing site conditions, etc.
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability and willingness to perform field work 100% of the time
  • Positive and collaborative work style.
  • Ability to work in a team and take direction.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER training preferred

Responsibilities

  • Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain excellent process or technical skills by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching.
  • Perform a broad range of tests requiring detailed assessment, measurement, and judgment.
  • Interpret data and identify possible answers. Involves navigating a wide variety of processes, procedures, and precedents.
  • Develop working knowledge of the organization’s policies and procedures and of regulatory codes and codes of conduct relevant to own work, adhering to mandatory procedures to ensure own work is undertaken to the required standards.
  • Carry out operational waste management tasks by following established processes.
  • Support technical troubleshooting efforts, aiding in the quick and accurate identification, analysis, and resolution of technical issues with equipment and experiments.
