Environmental Field Technician
About The Position
Habitat Management, Inc. is hiring Part-Time Environmental Field Technicians for the 2026 field season. This is a hands-on, outdoor role ideal for college students, recent grads, or anyone studying environmental science, biology, ecology, or natural resources who wants real-world experience beyond the classroom. This seasonal position starts in the April/May time frame (weather dependent) and runs through the fall, offering paid, field-based experience that builds skills employers in environmental and natural resource fields are looking for. You’ll be part of a field team restoring and protecting land across Colorado.
Requirements
- Physically strong, highly motivated individuals who enjoy hands-on work
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and terrain
- Adaptable, dependable, and eager to learn new skills
- Must live in the greater Denver area
- Must have a reliable vehicle for personal transportation
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background and drug testing
Nice To Haves
- Mechanically inclined is a plus
- Coursework or college credit in natural sciences
- MSHA certification
- Colorado or New Mexico Supervisor Pesticide Applicator License
- Experience operating heavy equipment (skid steer, mini-excavator, backhoe)
Responsibilities
- Managing noxious weeds and invasive species
- Identifying, mapping, planting, and seeding native vegetation
- Supporting erosion control and land restoration projects
- Operating and maintaining ATV/UTV and field equipment
- Installing log and straw sediment control barriers
- Collecting GPS data and navigating remote job sites
- Performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting 50+ pounds
- Following safety protocols in dynamic outdoor environments
