About The Position

GES is looking for a hands-on Environmental Field Technician to help operate and maintain groundwater treatment systems at our site in Northwest Indiana. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in wastewater or environmental fieldwork, groundwater sampling, subcontractor oversight, landfill inspections, who wants to work on interesting projects with a supportive team.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license.
Some experience working in wastewater, environmental fieldwork, or mechanical maintenance.
Mechanical skills and ability to use hand and power tools.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Willingness to learn and follow safety procedures.

Nice To Haves

OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification a plus (training provided if needed).
First aid and CPR training.
Confined space and lock-out/tag-out training.
Experience with sample collection and shipping.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain groundwater pumps, wells, piping, and treatment equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair equipment like pumps, flow meters, and control systems (PLCs).
Perform routine inspections and maintenance to keep systems running smoothly.
Collect and handle water and waste samples for testing.
Maintenance of property, such as gravel access roads, including snow removal.
Keep accurate records of your work and report data using company computers.
Follow safety rules and company procedures at all times.
Be available for occasional after-hours or weekend work for emergencies.
