About The Position

The Environmental Field Technician is responsible for supporting Allegheny County Airport Authority’s environmental compliance programs through field inspections and sampling, data collection and analysis, regulatory reporting, and technical support. This role assists in monitoring environmental performance and ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. They will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks, improve processes, and promote sustainable and environmentally responsible practices throughout the Authority.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
  • 0-1 years experience in environmental field work.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to obtain FAA required security clearance.
  • Possess or obtain prior to employment a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license. Note: license must be maintained throughout employment
  • Ability to assimilate technical environmental information.
  • Skilled in conducting field inspections and environmental monitoring.
  • Ability to read and interpret laboratory results.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, well‑organized documents using proper grammar and punctuation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in GIS and/or water chemistry is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct general field work across any/all environmental core areas, including but not limited to: Inspections of ACAA facilities, tenant operations, and contractor activities, environmental inspections such as waste storage areas, tanks, dams, and stormwater basins.
  • Collect regulatory drinking water and stormwater samples.
  • Track, model, and analyze data to predict trends and monitor performance of environmental programs.
  • Provide technical support for maintaining environmental compliance related to aircraft deicing operations and drinking water distribution system operations.
  • Assist with environmental spill response and remediation.
  • Assist in reviewing environmental regulations.
  • Prepare compliance, regulatory, technical, and procedural reports for internal and external audiences.
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations.
  • Perform other environmental duties as needed required.
