About The Position

PGS Worldwide is seeking an Environmental Engineering Manager in Radford, Virginia for an approximately six-month onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will lead the site's environmental compliance program, manage a team of Environmental Engineers, coordinate directly with regulatory agencies, and provide technical leadership across air, water, and solid-waste compliance activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in environmental compliance, environmental engineering, or a related field.
  • Prior experience managing employees.
  • Prior experience managing technical projects.
  • Experience supporting environmental regulatory compliance activities.
  • Ability to manage and oversee environmental programs involving air, water, and/or solid waste.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, or approving environmental compliance reports.
  • Ability to interpret and stay current with applicable environmental regulations.
  • Strong project-management and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with regulatory agencies, site leadership, engineering teams, and other internal stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 8 years of applicable environmental experience.
  • Wastewater compliance experience.
  • Environmental permit-writing experience.
  • Government regulatory compliance experience.
  • Experience working with government customers or agencies.
  • Experience supporting environmental requirements for facility modification or capital-improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Environmental Engineers supporting air, solid-waste, and water compliance.
  • Maintain overall ownership of the site's environmental program.
  • Serve as the primary interface between the site and applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Act as a liaison between the facility and the surrounding community regarding environmental compliance.
  • Monitor changing regulatory requirements and identify potential compliance impacts.
  • Ensure environmental reports and required submissions are prepared, reviewed, and approved on schedule.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to resolve environmental compliance issues.
  • Serve as the environmental subject-matter expert for facility modification projects.
  • Provide environmental guidance to plant and site leadership.
  • Manage environmental projects, priorities, and team workload.
  • Prepare and manage the environmental operating budget.
  • Identify compliance risks and address issues before they affect facility operations.
