About The Position

PGS Worldwide is seeking an Environmental Engineer II for a 6-month contract role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company in Radford, Virginia. This onsite position will support environmental compliance in a large chemical manufacturing environment. The role involves regulatory reporting, permit maintenance, hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, inspections, and environmental audits. The initial contract is for 6 months with the possibility of extension up to 18 months, contingent on budget and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an environmental or STEM-related discipline, including Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, and/or Civil Engineering
  • 2 years of related work experience or equivalent experience
  • Five years of experience in state environmental reporting, permit maintenance and compliance, and hazardous waste management and compliance monitoring
  • Experience with universal waste and non-hazardous waste management and compliance monitoring
  • Experience interacting with VDEQ personnel and regulations
  • Ability to work effectively on a multidisciplinary and diverse team
  • Ability to support a fast-paced, large chemical manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and environmental industry-related reporting and monitoring software

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state environmental regulations, consent decrees, and permits
  • Prepare and submit routine waste, TSCA, and EPCRA reports, including Biennial Hazardous Waste Reports, Tier II Reports, and TRI Form R
  • Work with operations departments on environmental compliance efforts and hazardous/non-hazardous waste management
  • Prepare and submit permit applications and modifications
  • Interface with regulatory agencies regarding applicable environmental regulations and requirements
  • Participate in environmental audits and inspections
  • Collect environmental samples and complete chains of custody and appropriate container identification
  • Provide environmental training as needed
  • Perform and support compliance inspections
  • Complete special assignments or tasks as directed by the supervisor
