About The Position

This position will directly support the Task Force Detachment Commander / Director and associated personnel, as they support key internal and external shareholders’ vision, direction, and implementation during the transition from the Minuteman III to the Sentinel weapon system. Duties will include direct interface with Programmatic Environment Safety & Occupational Health Evaluation (PESHE) plan management to include, Hazardous Material Management Plan review, ensuring MIL-STD-882E compliance, and interfacing with the State Department of Environmental Quality. Additionally, the Environmental Engineer Manager will lead efforts to support National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analyses, in accordance with Air Force Environmental Impact Analysis Processes, that will include the development, management or oversight of: Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), Environmental Assessments (EA), Categorical Exclusions (CATEX), and Classified Annexes that support NEPA documentation. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding and insight into Air Force PESHE and NEPA processes, procedures, and requirements. A moderate level of travel is possible within the AFGSC Task Force Environmental Engineer’s duties. Pursuant to Government contract, this position requires US Citizenship status. This position is a full-time 5/40 role located at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, due to special-access, classified working environment and is not conducive to regular “telework” schedules.

Requirements

  • 12+ years’ experience dealing with PESHE and NEPA processes and procedures.
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, bio-environmental, chemical, material, industrial, civil, or geological engineering, or chemistry / physics.
  • Previous interactions with base-level environmental activities.
  • Experience with DoD requirements development.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, multi-disciplined team environment.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance.
  • US Citizenship status.
