About The Position

As the Environmental Engineer I, you will work on-site in Colorado and support the various technical functions to ensure efficient and effective support for projects managed by the Grand Junction office. Personal initiative and critical thinking skills are essential to complete job duties with minimal guidance. Assignments are deadline driven so you must be able to set priorities, take ownership of projects, work efficiently and provide a consistent level of high quality in a high-pressure environment.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of the environmental and construction industry
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Ability to use analytical skills alongside scientific rules and methods to solve problems and apply logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Basic to intermediate level of experience in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint programs; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to multi-task and manage time
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels staff
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be flexible, adaptable, positive
  • Ability to work in an Alaska Native Corporation multi-business environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or environmental engineering
  • 1-3 years’ experience working on environmental projects
  • A broad understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations
  • Valid state driver’s license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of Brice Engineering’s Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass a drug, driving, and background screenings.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in federal government projects preferred
  • Hazardous Waste Operation and Emergency Response training with current 8-hour refresher preferred
  • Experience with Health and Safety functions preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work with technical staff in support of project objectives and field operations
  • Support weekly meetings and record minutes
  • Manage mail and telephone communications for routine operations and maintenance and sampling activities
  • Answer, respond to, and document project hotline calls
  • Work with environmental technicians and other technical staff in data collection and evaluation
  • Conduct quality control reviews of field data entry following field activities
  • Support routine and varied project tracker updates
  • Prepare, produce, mail, and track delivery of project documents
  • Support vendor coordination and invoice tracking
  • Actively participate in a proactive safety culture
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
  • Other duties as assigned
