About The Position

The Environmental Engineer is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance at our secondary lead recycling facility in Tampa. This role involves engaging a wide range of stakeholders, including operations teams and regulators, and requires the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams at all levels. The position allows for independent action with moderate direct supervision and reports to the site Environmental Director. Critical success criteria include developing a working knowledge of existing operations and processes to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards, supporting capital project teams with environmental input, serving as a technical resource for environmental compliance and continuous improvement, and supporting investigations to recommend corrective actions for maintaining environmental compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering such as Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline from an accredited College or University
  • A minimum of two years of previous work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to champion change, promote a positive team atmosphere, and sustain a continuous improvement culture
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, ability to work well under pressure, sense of urgency, and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work experience with facilitating regulators and on-site contractors preferred, but not required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from an accredited College or University strongly preferred, but not required
  • Previous work experience in an environmental role preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Using our Intelex software system, owns the environmental incident reporting and investigation system
  • Coordinates environmental testing, audits, inspections, and recordkeeping
  • Remains current on the state of the art in environmental control technologies
  • Performs data analysis to drive insights into environmental performance opportunities
  • Prepares regulatory compliance reports including emissions inventory, periodic air monitoring reports, Greenhouse Gas, and periodic hazardous waste reporting
  • Reviews and summarizes technical reports, identifying key takeaways and action items
  • Communicates and engages with regulators
  • Works with consultants to monitor relevant regulatory changes
  • Works with the training department to create and update training documentation
  • Responds promptly and effectively to the needs of the business.
