About The Position

Under the supervision of the Workforce Coordinator & Crew Leader, the Environmental Corps Assistant will oversee and facilitate the activities of the youth participants enrolled in the Environmental Corps Program. The Crew Leader is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure the success and development of the youth participants throughout the duration of the program. This is a temporary position expected to end August 13th 2026.

Requirements

  • 1+ years experience working with young adults – typically 17-24 years old.
  • Previous experience working with youth, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Current CA Driver’s License, current auto insurance and a clean driving record.
  • Current CPR & First Aid Certificate (every 2 years thereafter)
  • Current Immunizations (TB) (every 2 years thereafter)
  • Clearance Child Abuse Index
  • Independent thinker, possess excellent customer service skills, professional attitude, a high level of personal integrity, maturity, and business judgment required.
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize task, meet deadlines, able to do presentations and to maintain confident information.
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a well-organized professional who thrives in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to remain tactful under pressure and present a professional demeanor and communication style with co-workers in a multicultural setting.
  • Ability to be culturally aware when working with clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Chrome.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite: Sheets, Slides, Docs, and Drive.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality when dealing with client information.

Nice To Haves

  • AS Degree with an emphasis in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Business Administration, Education, Youth Development, or a related field, preferred.
  • Strong background in working with communities that are underserved preferred.
  • Knowledge of Mission District preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Crew Leader in all aspects of running the Summer Environmental Corps, including but not limited to planning, scheduling, and executing daily activities.
  • Assists with coordinating transportation arrangements for crew members, ensuring timely arrival and departure.
  • Responsible for organizing and overseeing food pick-up and distribution for crew members.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to crew members as needed, ensuring adherence to project guidelines and program objectives.
  • Assist in ensuring the safety of crew members by implementing and enforcing safety protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections of project sites and equipment, identifying and addressing potential hazards.
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating team meetings, training sessions, and other program-related events.
  • Help maintain accurate records of attendance, work hours, and project progress.
  • Communicate regularly with the Crew Leader to provide updates on program activities, challenges, and successes.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in order to address any issues, concerns, or unforeseen challenges that arise during the program.
  • Collaborate with the Crew Leader to develop solutions and ensure smooth operation of the program.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team environment, encouraging collaboration, teamwork, and mutual support among crew members.
  • Support the Crew Leader in providing training and guidance to crew members on topics such as environmental conservation practices, teamwork, communication skills, and project-specific tasks.
  • Help manage and track inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies needed for program activities.
  • Coordinate procurement and maintenance of equipment as necessary.
  • Support the Crew Leader in managing program budget, including tracking expenses.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Always represent the Company in a professional manner.
  • Maintain personal safety, use personal protection equipment (PPE) and follow Company policies.
  • Report all and any safety issues, accidents or injuries to your manager as a matter of priority.
  • Promotes the health and safety of participants and follows safety and emergency procedures.

  • Ability to facilitate positive change.
  • Partner with supervisor when necessary to address department issues or concerns.
  • Ability to partner/help other Program departments as needed.
