About The Position

McGard LLC is seeking a highly talented and motivated Environmental Control Technician to join their dynamic team. McGard has been a trusted name in the automotive industry for over 60 years, specializing in manufacturing high-quality, precision-engineered automotive security products and components. This role involves operating and maintaining industrial water treatment equipment, demonstrating proper utilization of treatment chemicals, running metal bearing batch treatment loads, and operating various treatment systems. The position also requires the employee to be a Hazardous Materials Response Team Member and work with hazardous materials and waste, necessitating the ability to pass specific physical and respirator use requirements. The job description states that other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must successfully complete a 24-hour HAZMAT technician training within 60 days that includes hazardous waste operation and emergency response.
  • Must be successful in passing pulmonary function type physical per standard 1910.134 as it relates to using a respirator.
  • Must be able to wear and use respiratory protection as required, which includes being clean shaven where the respirator seals against the face.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one (1) year experience preferred.
  • Science background helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain industrial water treatment equipment.
  • Demonstrate the proper utilization of treatment chemicals following all safety measures.
  • Run metal bearing batch treatment loads.
  • Operate and maintain: AA unit, Treatment pumps, Metal bearing filter press, Sludge dryer, D.I. unit, Industrial Water Treatment System, Ultra-filtration water treatment system.
  • Maintain various waste treatment related records.
  • Demonstrate the ability to properly operate equipment such as plating process filtration, auxiliary filtration, ion exchange equipment, etc. and understands the importance of ensuring all valve positions are in their proper position before running said equipment.
  • Be a Hazardous Materials Response Team Member.
  • Work with hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
  • Wear and use respiratory protection as required.
