About The Position

The Environmental Compliance Specialist I is an entry-level position that will learn to perform duties in the field of environmental regulatory compliance and, with experience, perform some duties independently. The incumbent in this position will be an air pollution field inspector and will ensure compliance with air pollution requirements at regulated facilities.

Requirements

  • Four years of experience performing inspection or investigation work related to State, federal or local regulation, code or compliance.
  • Possession of a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
  • Must maintain a driver's license with no more than 5 points on their driving record to operate a State vehicle.
  • Must be legally authorized under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act to be hired.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong foundation in air-related chemical, biological, and environmental knowledge.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to write detailed compliance reports and convey findings to stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience in environmental monitoring, field sampling, regulatory compliance auditing, or knowledge of environmental regulations.
  • Certification or license in the designated environmental compliance area.
