About The Position

WattBridge, a leader in the energy transition, is seeking an Environmental Manager to oversee all environmental permitting, diligence, and compliance efforts for their power delivery platform, focusing on Data Center Campus development. WattBridge has a proven track record in developing, financing, building, owning, and operating large-scale power generation portfolios and is now expanding into the data center industry. The Environmental Manager will be crucial in supporting WattBridge's objective of providing power generation and shovel-ready campuses to data center offtakers, with projects aiming to deliver significant GWs of thermal generation. This role requires managing consultants, budgets, and obtaining all necessary local, state, and federal permits for constructing and operating natural-gas-fired power plants. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a history of thriving in fast-paced environments and managing multiple projects.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of environmental engineering, management and compliance experience is preferred.
  • A science or engineering degree or background preferred.
  • The candidate must have legal authority to work permanently in the United States.
  • Must read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.

Responsibilities

  • Managing consultants to provide environmental due diligence for new site locations.
  • Providing scope of work, requesting bids, analyzing bids, selecting candidates, and managing activities until tasks and reports are completed.
  • Creating budgets and creating and managing purchase orders, invoices, and payments.
  • Obtaining all necessary local, state, and federal permits and authorizations required to construct and operate a natural-gas-fired power plant and auxiliary activities.
  • Managing continuous compliance, reporting, investigations, and any other activities related to the day-to-day construction and operation of an electric generating facility.
  • Contributing to the development, implementation, and monitoring of facility-specific environmental plans, such as SPCC, waste management programs, stormwater plans, etc.
  • Managing the environmental compliance program and its supporting policies, procedures, and monitoring platforms.
  • Creating and managing project budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitoring standards development and revisions, and communicating proposed changes to SMEs.
  • Acting as an internal resource for environmental incident investigations.
  • Actively providing corporate communications aimed at maintaining the climate of awareness and informing the status of compliance with requirements/standards.
  • Technical research and writing.
  • Managing all environmental aspects of all projects.
  • Managing all consultants performing environmental tasks.
  • Collaborating with other internal and external disciplines to provide a competitive and desirable data center destination.
  • Responsible for all environmental compliance monitoring, recording, and reporting activities.
  • Educating staff on new and/or future rules and regulations that may impact project construction or operation.
