About The Position

RETTEW is seeking an experienced environmental professional to serve as Environmental Compliance Manager for an ongoing, large-scale highway construction project in western Pennsylvania. The position is part of the Natural Sciences team within the Environmental and Geotechnology practice and reports to the project field office in the Pittsburgh area. The manager leads environmental compliance during construction, oversees field inspections, manages permit obligations and documentation, coordinates with regulatory agencies and construction partners, and helps resolve environmental issues before they affect safety, compliance, schedule, or project delivery. The role involves leading compliance activities for a large, multi-year highway construction project; supervising and coordinating environmental inspection staff; monitoring environmental requirements affected by construction; managing permits through construction and closeout; maintaining project records; coordinating agency inspections; and communicating findings and corrective actions. The position reports to a project field office and requires frequent visits to active highway construction work areas. Work may occur outdoors in varying weather, around construction equipment and traffic, and on uneven terrain. It is designated safety-sensitive because it includes company-vehicle operation and field work in active construction and utility environments. Successful completion of required pre-employment screenings and continued compliance with RETTEW safety policies are conditions of employment. RETTEW is a 100% employee-owned engineering consulting firm that has been helping clients solve complex challenges since 1969. Its teams collaborate across disciplines to deliver practical solutions that strengthen infrastructure and support communities. RETTEW describes its culture as based on ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement, with opportunities for employee-owners to grow their careers and deliver results for clients.
