About The Position

Intertek is seeking an Environmental Asbestos Technician I to join their Environmental team in St. Louis, Missouri. This role supports the Environmental department in services such as asbestos surveys, asbestos third-party monitoring, and lead-based paint surveys. The position involves both fieldwork and technical report writing, with some overnight regional travel required. Intertek's Building and Construction division is a leader in various architecture, engineering, and construction disciplines, offering innovative product and project solutions. Requirements

BS in Environmental Science or 5 years experience in the asbestos consulting or abatement industry.
Some experience in asbestos, lead-based paint, and/or mold inspecting, sampling, assessment, etc.
Current or expired Asbestos Inspector License – State of Missouri or ability to apply for license within the first 30 days of employment (Intertek will pay for class/licensing).
Must be detail-oriented, and a team player with excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Must be computer literate and able to operate most field/office equipment relating to one’s discipline.
Must be able to climb ladders and lift, move, push, and pull items with weights in excess of 30 pounds multiple times as needed to complete project requirements.
Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record.
15% travel.
Must be able to work off shifts and overtime and willing to work out of town occasionally.

Responsibilities

Perform field sampling of asbestos and other indoor air quality media as part of site assessment and remediation activities on projects as directed by senior team members.
Assist in the development of work scope, report preparation, client and subcontractor coordination, and assessment of proper response actions.
Maintain Training Records / Field Instrumentation / Certifications (will provide training updates).
Participate in all QA/QC programs as appropriate and Safety Programs.
Communicate with clients and regulatory agencies to keep projects moving and on schedule.
Operate testing equipment and conduct testing and provide assessment of data through reporting.
