About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting the Environmental Department to maintain environmental regulatory compliance across the campus. The Environmental Analyst assists with monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting activities to support compliance with campus-wide environmental permits and programs. As directed, assists with routine compliance activities for all media to satisfy compliance with regulatory and operational needs as well as PSGC best environmental practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in environmental science, engineering or other related science preferred.
  • Two (2) years of environmental compliance program experience including field experience conducting sample collection, field audits, and inspections.
  • General understanding of sampling techniques.
  • General knowledge of environmental regulations.
  • General knowledge of health and physical hazards associated with an industrial setting.
  • Work as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and ability to prioritize and plan work activities.
  • Ability to follow procedures associated with sample collection, inspections, labeling, shipping, etc.
  • Work in a safe manner while following all safety protocols while performing job duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience includes working in a mining or power generation environment.
  • USEPA Method 9 visible emission observation certification (obtain within 3 months of employment).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct groundwater and surface water monitoring, including collecting samples and field data, including water level and flow rate, on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Keeping comprehensive records of all groundwater and surface water monitoring activities.
  • Conduct visible emissions observations from point and fugitive sources and document each observation.
  • Assist with collection, characterization, and shipping activities in support of regulated waste program compliance, involving industrial and hazardous wastes, used oil and universal wastes.
  • Analyze collected environmental data to identify and assess trends and patterns and assist in the development of strategies to prevent, control, or mitigate emerging issues.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Investigate incidents and non-compliance events to determine contributing factors and recommend remedial action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Assist in the development of permit applications, renewals, technical reports, and supporting documents for submittal to state and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Review all outgoing correspondence and documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare submittals with document controls ensuring that mailings are timely, logged, and filed with associated certifications/receipts (USPS, UPS, FedEx).
  • Must have regular and reliable attendance.
  • As assigned and delegated by the Director of Environmental.
