About The Position

The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation Stormwater Program is seeking candidates for a position in the Operational Stormwater Permitting Section. This role involves providing technical and analytical review of State Stormwater Discharge Permits, offering technical design, education, and outreach assistance for stormwater systems (including field assistance), and ensuring compliance with applicable operational stormwater permit regulations through oversight of inspections, reporting requirements, and participation in enforcement actions. The position also requires representing the Operational Stormwater Permitting Section in public hearings and legal proceedings, and ensuring that general permits and other regulatory documents remain up to date and valid.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in a biological-life or physical science, engineering, a social science, data science, or an environmental or natural resources field AND two (2) or more years of experience in a natural resources field.
  • Bachelor's degree in a biological-life or physical science, engineering, a social science, data science, or an environmental or natural resources field AND three (3) or more years of experience in a natural resources field.
  • Six (6) years or more of experience in an engineering, environmental, social science, data science, or natural resources field.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical and analytical review of State Stormwater Discharge Permits.
  • Providing technical design, education, and outreach assistance for stormwater systems, including in field assistance.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable operational stormwater permit regulations by overseeing inspections, reporting requirements, and participating in enforcement actions.
  • Representing the Operational Stormwater Permitting Section in public hearings and legal proceedings.
  • Ensuring that general permits and other regulatory documents remain up to date and valid.
