About The Position

The Environmental Aide performs housekeeping and cleaning in accordance with state, regulatory agency, and facility requirements, Riverside Health System (RHS) Infection Control standards, and Environmental Services policies and procedures. The role helps maintain a neat, clean, and safe work environment, keeps cleaning supplies adequately stocked, and assists team members with moving equipment, cleaning, and beds.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year of housekeeping or environmental services experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Certified Auto External Defibrillator (AED) certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute preferred.

Responsibilities

Clean assigned areas, including patient rooms, bathrooms, corridors, public areas, elevators, nurses’ stations, laboratories, lounges, and locker rooms, using methods such as sweeping, washing, mopping, dusting, disinfecting, and sanitizing.
Use appropriate cleaners for each task and label and store chemicals safely and properly.
Restock supplies and clean carts daily; maintain required stocks of paper goods, soaps, chemicals, and reusable goods in assigned areas.
Terminally clean and maintain assigned areas according to RHS policies.
Comply with RHS, DNV, state, and regulatory standards to maintain a safe patient care environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Follow guidelines for proper body mechanics, hazardous materials handling, and universal precautions to prevent accidents and injuries.
Maintain a safe work area and follow safe practices referenced in the National Patient Safety Goals and RHS policies and procedures.
Complete cleaning duties promptly, safely, and thoroughly in compliance with Infection Control standards, including dusting, cleaning, sanitizing, and trash removal.
Clean areas according to schedules and departmental policies, completing assignments on time and consistently meeting quality and infection-control measures.
Continuously monitor assigned areas and maintain cleanliness and order according to departmental policies, procedures, and schedules.
