About The Position

The Environmental Aide cleans and maintains assigned hospital areas in sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition to promote a clean and healthy environment for employees, patients, and guests. The role follows departmental standards, safety protocols, and infection-control procedures, including appropriate disposal of biohazard materials such as bodily fluids and sharp objects.

The position uses specialized cleaning techniques for designated rooms and equipment, replenishes supplies such as soap, paper towels, and tissues, and delivers clean linens to patient rooms. Success requires maintaining high standards of cleanliness, reliability, attention to detail, flexibility in taking on additional tasks, timely reporting of maintenance issues, and a proactive approach to emergencies and workplace safety.

Requirements

• One year of recent work experience.

• Previous housekeeping experience in an acute care facility.

Responsibilities

• Use housekeeping equipment and cleaning solutions efficiently and safely.
• Clean assigned areas according to orientation procedures and departmental policies, using appropriate solutions to clean and disinfect areas and cleaning discharge rooms to zero defects.
• Handle chemicals and solutions according to departmental and MSDS standards, ensuring chemicals are properly labeled and used for their intended purposes.
• Dispose of biohazard materials, including bodily fluids and sharp objects, using proper techniques.
• Notify departmental management promptly about equipment requiring repair or unsafe conditions.
• Clean assigned carts and equipment daily and return items in an orderly manner.
• Replenish departmental supplies and ensure they are stocked and readily available.
• Deliver clean linens to patient rooms.
• Respond proactively to emergencies and support a safe, healthy environment for patients and staff.
