About The Position

Atlantic Health is seeking a Full-Time Environmental Aide I (Housekeeping) for the Environmental Services Department at Chilton Medical Center. The role involves utilizing appropriate cleaning equipment to clean various areas of the facility, following department policies for cleaning and disinfection, and handling trash and linen removal. The position requires responding to pages, cleaning up spills, preparing cleaning solutions, and handling bio-hazard materials. The Environmental Aide will also perform periodic checks for environmental needs, report repairs, attend meetings to stay updated on changes, and handle moderately complex issues. Cleaning of bodily fluids is part of the responsibilities. The Environmental Service Department plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean and safe healthcare environment, acting as the first line of defense against infection and collaborating with infection prevention and quality departments.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED/Equivalent required or will obtain within 1 year of employment.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Solid work history a must.
  • Need to meet the fit testing requirement.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in housekeeping in either a hospital or institutional setting or a related field preferred.
  • Prior Floor-care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes appropriate cleaning equipment in cleaning all nursing units, patients' rooms and all other designated facility areas, including the floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, furniture etc.
  • Follows the department's policies and procedures on cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization.
  • Cleans up major spills when necessary and responds to pages in a timely manner.
  • Cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at the end of each shift.
  • Removes all trash and linen within the hospital.
  • Follows directions carefully for cleaning solution preparations and handling of bio-hazard materials.
  • Makes periodic checks for environmental needs in the assigned area.
  • Reports any repairs to maintenance.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in environmental services by attending monthly department meetings.
  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Position includes cleaning of bodily fluids.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
