About The Position

Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Environmental Aide I (Housekeeping) for the Environmental Services Department. The role involves utilizing appropriate cleaning equipment to clean various areas of the facility, following department policies for cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing. Responsibilities include cleaning up spills, restocking carts, removing trash and linen, preparing cleaning solutions, handling bio-hazard materials, and reporting maintenance needs. The position requires attention to detail, adherence to directions, and the ability to handle moderately complex issues, referring more complex ones to higher-level staff. Cleaning of bodily fluids is part of the role, along with other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED/Equivalent required or will obtain within 1 year of employment.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Must be able to bend/push/pull/lift 50LBS.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior institutional housekeeping experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience in healthcare, hospitality or relevant area preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes appropriate cleaning equipment in cleaning all nursing units, patients' rooms and all other designated facility areas, including the floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, furniture etc.
  • Follows the department's policies and procedures on cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization.
  • Cleans up major spills when necessary and responds to pages in a timely manner.
  • Cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at the end of each shift.
  • Removes all trash and linen within the hospital.
  • Follows directions carefully for cleaning solution preparations and handling of bio-hazard materials.
  • Makes periodic checks for environmental needs in the assigned area.
  • Reports any repairs to maintenance.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in environmental services by attending monthly department meetings.
  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Position includes cleaning of bodily fluids.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
