About The Position

Under minimal supervision, this role is responsible for assisting in the management of the Veolia – Port Arthur Incineration Facility Environmental program, in support of the Environmental Manager. The primary duties involve assisting with the development and implementation of environmental policies, programs, and systems, including recordkeeping, inspections, and reporting. This position also researches and provides environmental regulatory guidance to facility personnel to ensure compliance with regulations, permit conditions, and internal policies. Key responsibilities include maintaining records and submitting reports to agencies such as TCEQ and EPA, reviewing spills and releases, managing third-party audits, and assisting with training on environmental regulations and permit requirements. The role also involves assisting facility personnel in using Dakota software and developing processes/programs as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the environmental regulatory or compliance field, with specific experience in the RCRA hazardous waste regulations, preferred
  • Knowledge of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), the Clean Water Act (CWA), and the Clean Air Act (CAA).
  • Must possess strong communication skills and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with employees, peers, management and external contacts.
  • Must have the ability to manage time and resources efficiently.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the development and implementation of environmental policies, programs and systems, including associated recordkeeping, inspections and reporting.
  • Researches and provides environmental regulatory guidance to facility personnel to assist them in meeting regulatory, permit conditions, and internal policies for their areas of responsibility.
  • Maintains records and submits relevant reports to agencies (TCEQ, EPA, etc.) Examples: Emission Events, Emissions Inventory, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), Benzene NESHAP, Title V Deviation.
  • Assists other facility environmental, health, and safety professionals in the review of spills and releases to determine root causes and the appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
  • Assists with Third-Party Audit program ensuring that third-party audits completed, reviewed and approved or denied in a timely manner.
  • Schedules and manages the monthly reviews of any recordkeeping issues with facility personnel.
  • Assists facility personnel in the use of the Dakota software (Auditor, Profiler, and Tracer).
  • Assists with training (internal and external) on Environmental Regulations and permit requirements.
  • Assist in development of processes/programs as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned
