Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six years related experience including one year demonstrated supervisory skills.
  • Proficiency using a Desktop Computer and standard Office applications.
  • Efficient writing skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college education preferred.
  • AHE or IEHA Certification Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with department, division and nursing unit leadership to plan, organize and direct the day to day routine operations of the Environmental Services Team ensuring prompt effective response to unplanned work requests.
  • Assisting with preparation of department budget data, monitoring expenditures and preparing financial reports.
  • Developing departmental goals and objectives/policies and procedures.
  • Meeting with other staff members to discuss progress and to develop future courses of action.
  • Supervising staff and managing employee performance.
  • Providing on-going performance feedback, addressing problems, project staffing needs, interviewing and hiring employees, orienting and training employees, documenting and verifying competency and identifying and suggesting ways to develop skills.
  • Directing, scheduling and monitoring workflow.
  • Administering departmental policies and procedures in accordance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines, reviewing and communicating them to ensure compliance.
  • Inspecting work of special projects teams and taking appropriate action to ensure that project work is completed as scheduled.
  • Taking action to address deficiencies.
  • Relieving Shift Lead as necessary and serving as supervisor and point-of-contact on evening and night shifts.
  • Completing required paperwork and maintaining files including preparing the daily work schedule in advance and maintaining monthly cleaning schedules.
  • Monitoring staff adherence to established safety standards.
  • Taking necessary precautions, in keeping with OSHA standards and other applicable federal and state regulations, when working with hazardous chemicals and materials and power equipment.
  • Using personal protective equipment as required.
  • Monitoring the safe handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals and wastes by staff; monitoring compliance to policies and procedures for waste handling.
  • Participating in committee meetings and the hospitals infectious and hazardous waste, paper recycling programs and maintaining the digital housekeeping system (e-bed or Teletrack etc.).
  • Working with director to formulate plan for professional development.
  • Attending educational in-services as appropriate.
  • Participating in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.
  • Performing other related duties as required.
