About The Position

This position is based at our Ottawa office within the Point of Care division and requires on‑site presence four days per week, with the option to work remotely one day. Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas, including Chemistry, Electrolytes, Hematology, Blood Gases, Coagulation, Endocrinology, Cardiac Markers, Neurology, and Informatics. As the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist, you'll have the chance to advance environmental compliance and overall EHS performance by developing, implementing, and maintaining programs aligned with regulatory and corporate requirements. The role promotes a strong culture of environmental stewardship and workplace safety, while supporting inspections, incident investigations, contractor safety, and emergency preparedness.

Requirements

  • University degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or related field.
  • Three to five years of experience in EHS within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) designation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement of EHS performance by identifying risks, trends, and opportunities, with a focus on environmental impact and compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, ensuring alignment with regulatory and corporate standards.
  • Conduct environmental and safety inspections, audits, and assessments; track and close corrective actions.
  • Lead or support incident investigations (including environmental events), determine root causes, and implement preventive measures.
  • Support environmental compliance activities, including reporting, monitoring, and maintaining current policies and procedures.
  • Deliver EHS training and promote a proactive culture of environmental responsibility and safety awareness.
  • Support emergency preparedness planning and response for environmental and safety incidents.
  • Manage contractor EHS requirements, including environmental expectations and documentation.
  • Lead or support EHS committee activities and monitor system effectiveness to drive continuous improvement.
